Are you addicted to selfies? Then, you should visit Ani-Com Park in Wan Chai District when you travel to Hong Kong. The park, which is located in the promenade adjacent to the Golden Bauhinia Square, features 30 life-sized sculptures of classic Hong Kong anime and comics characters in 1:1 scale.
The sculptures offer excellent photo opportunities to locals, particulaly local fans of the comics, as well as tourist who may not be familiar with the characters but will surely find them interesting and worthy backdrops for selfies. The comic characters are featured in vignettes reflecting Hong Kong’s culture and way of life such as playing mahjong, hopscotch and riding the tram. Some of the characters on display are Master Q, Wang Xiao-hu, Panda-a-Panda and Ding Ding Penguin.
Ani-Com park was opened to the public 29th April 2016 to "further drive the cultural development of Wan Chai and strengthen the multifaceted ani-com cultural ambience that connects the whole district." Admission is free. Guided tours can be arranged. For more information, go to www.anicompark.hk.
How to get there
Take MTR Wan Chai Station go out at Exit A5 and walk along the footbridge of O’Brien Road. Pass through Immigration Tower and Central Plaza to the Convention Plaza. Turn right and head straight to the footbridge to Great Eagle Centre. Get off the footbridge on the first exit. From there, follow the signs and head to Ani-Com Park through Fleming Road and Expo Drive East.
