Located in the southern section of Tung Choi Street in Mongkok, Kowloon is Ladies Market, a kilometer-long street market featuring a hundred or so stalls selling all sorts of items. Also known as Women's Street, this well-known shopping destination in Hong Kong mostly sell items which appeal to the women such as apparel, accessories, shoes, souvenirs and other trinkets. However, there are also a few stalls which offer merchandise for the men such as clothing, watches and electronic gadgets.
Aside from the diverse merchandise, another factor that makes Ladies Market a popular shopping haunt for both Hong Kongers and tourists are the prices! Items are sold at bargain prices and if you know how to haggle, you can purchase goods at a fraction of the cost compared to those sold in malls.
Stalls line both sides of the street but there are also bigger shops or boutiques within which offer a greater range of items, albeit at slightly higher prices. These shops pay higher rent hence their pricier goods but they provide customers with a more comfortable shopping experience with facilities such as restrooms and dressing stalls.
There is no better place to experience the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong than the Ladies Market. After an afternoon of shopping, try out the local snacks such as congee, wonton noodles, dumplings and fishballs sold in street-side stalls and quench your thirst with the freshly squeezed fruit juice of your choice. For the picky eaters, there are fast-food chains near the Argyle Street end of the market.
