Lantau, Hong Kong's largest island, is home to numerous clean, quiet and uncrowded beaches. One of which is the Silvermine Bay Beach, a Grade 1 beach and tourist attraction, just a short walk away from the Mui Wo ferry pier.
The water quality at Silvermine Bay Beach is excellent and is considered as one of the cleanest in Hong Kong. Aside from swimming and other water activities, a nearby sandbar provides a great venue for a game of Frisbee and kite flying. There is also a bike rental shop for those who want to explore the beach and nearby areas on wheels.
There are kiosks selling snacks and refreshments as well as small restaurants offering a variety of western and local cuisines. For those who wish to stay a night or two, there are hotels, including the Silvermine Beach Hotel, which offer comfortable accommodations.
There are also lifeguards on duty and shark nets are in place.
To get to the Silvermine Bay Beach, just take the ferry from Central to Mui Wo, then, walk your way to the beach.
