The Whampoa is shopping centre right in the center of Whampoa Garden, the largest private housing estate located in Hung Hom, Kowloon, Hong Kong. It is not your usual shopping complex because it features a building shaped like a massive cruise ship.
While the 110-metre-long boat-shaped arcade is the centerpiece of these shopping complex, there are several satellite commercial centres surrounding it. There are more than 300 shops here, which are designated into zones specializing in specific service or merchandise such as books, fashion, children's apparel, food, sporting equipment, music, home furnishing, electronics & gadgets, health & beauty, etc.
The Whampoa also offers a wide selection of cuisines and treats from its numerous dining establishments. There is also a bowling alley, cinemas, children's recreational facilities and an events venue.
The Whampoa Garden sits on the former site of the Whampoa Dockyards. The Whampoa boat-building was built in the original No 1 Dry Dock, in Whampoa Garden Phase 6. It is a short walk away from the harbour front promenade which offers a different angle from which to view the iconic Victoria Harbour.
To get to The Whampoa, take a ferry to Hung Hom from Central, Wan Chai or North Point.
